WORK WITH THIS BIG WILD WORLD

Hey there, I’m Susan, and I believe in saying yes to adventure! That’s what This Big Wild World adventure travel blog is all about because life is better with adventure.

That word, adventure, means something different to all of us. This Big Wild World is a place for current and future outdoor lovers and adventure travelers to connect with their sense of adventure, whatever that means to them. From off-the-beaten path destinations around the world to adventures closer to my home in Minnesota, I encourage and prepare my audience to say yes to new experiences.

My mission is to enable others to see themselves as adventurers, whether that be in nature or in travel or both.

Are you looking to reach an audience of current and future outdoor lovers and adventure travelers? This Big Wild World has an engaged audience across her website, email list and social media.

MY AUDIENCE

This Big Wild World’s audience is primarily millennial or late Gen X females between 24-44 years old in the USA. They travel on a budget but are willing to splurge on certain experiences and gear. They love the idea of both the outdoors and travel but don’t necessarily feel prepared for either. They often travel with a friend or solo.

Travel may not always feel accessible to my audience, so they daydream about bucket list destinations and are amazed by unexpected adventures closer to home in Minnesota and the Midwest US!

  • 61% female
  • 25% age 35-44 and 24% age 25-34
  • 83% are in the USA
  • Prefer to travel with a friend or solo
  • While they travel with a budget in mind, they will splurge on unique and memorable accommodations or experiences.
  • Look for value for money when purchasing gear. Newer adventurers look for the Minimum Cost of Entry (MCE) to get out there without breaking the bank. As they gain confidence and commitment, they are willing to invest in high quality, high value items that enhance their experience.
  • Want to feel prepared.
  • Are interested in getting outdoors in all 4 seasons.
  • Seek to learn about people and cultures different from their own.
  • Are curious about and want to experience off-the-beaten path destinations and unique adventures.

WHAT I WRITE ABOUT

I write thoughtful, detailed, and honest content designed to prepare and inspire my audience. My tone is encouraging, supportive, sometimes sarcastic and often self-deprecating. Specific types of content I create include:

Adventure Travel

From winter hiking to summer kayaking and just about anything in between, my audience is discovering their inner adventurer. I share options in every season, near and far.

Destination Guides

Whatever the destination, I emphasize unique, adventurous and outdoors-focused ways to experience and connect with it through activities, lodging, restaurants, small businesses and more.

Prepared Girl’s Guides

Detailed packing lists for adventure travel and gear lists for the outdoors, including tips to balance being prepared with a minimalist approach to packing.

Gear & Product Reviews

If I find a product that will help my audience see themselves as adventurers – and feel prepared – I want them to know about it. I share honest reviews and advice about gear and products.
