Why are Hayward Cabins a great place to stay?
Hayward Cabins take the rustic log cabin feel and make it simple, modern and convenient. They are located on a quiet channel off of Lake Hayward, right in the heart of the town. While the cabins are surrounded by trees, the restaurants and shops are just minutes away!
The property has four different cabins to choose from, each with a unique theme. I stayed at The Timberjack, which is located closest to the water. Before you even enter The Timberjack, the outdoor space grabs your attention.

Hanging chairs with twinkle lights are the perfect place to relax around your own firepit. Nearby is a table and chairs for four people as well as a charcoal grill. The covered front porch has a bench, ideal for sipping coffee on a rainy morning.
Once inside, the cabin has an open floorplan. To the left is a wooden table with a bench and chairs, positioned for a perfect view of the lake through the window. Along the wall is a smart TV and heating and A/C unit. The bed is in the center of the room next to a comfy sofa that transforms into a bed for extra guests.
The kitchen is small but has everything you need, including a small fridge, microwave, sink, electric skillet, knives, silverware, cutting boards, and more. To the right when you enter the front door is a coffee station with a Keurig coffee maker and an assortment of pods. Just beyond that is the bathroom with a single sink, toilet, and shower with plenty of shelves to store your toiletries.

The entire Timberjack cabin has a northwoods lumberjack vibe.
Just a short walk from the cabins is the lakefront with a dock that can be used for motorized or non-motorized watercraft. Motorized boats can be launched from the nearby public boat launch (~ 3 minute drive). Boat trailers can be stored on the Hayward Cabins property.
Each cabin has a somewhat unique theme and layout, though much is similar across them. For instance, the Honey Bear Hideaway has two built-in bunk beds in addition to a queen size bed.

What I Don’t Love About Hayward Cabins
Hayward Cabins, particularly the Timberjack, was exactly what I was looking for, so there’s not a lot I didn’t like. But, there are three things you may want to know before you book your stay!
First, the shower (and bathroom overall) is fairly small. It’s not designed for people in larger bodies. For a short stay, this was not a big deal to me but for a longer stay or those who need more space, it could be an issue.

Second, there are other cabins in close proximity. THey are positioned in a way that maximizes privacy but if you want complete privacy, this likely isn’t the place for you. I recommend booking the cabin on the end (The Timberjack) for the most privacy.
Lastly, with the convenient location in the town Hayward, there is occasional road noise from the nearby bridge that crosses Hayward Lake. This didn’t bother me, but if you are looking for solitude, you may want to try one of the more remote cabins listed below.
Overall Opinion on Hayward Cabins

Hayward Cabins is a great budget-friendly option for a solo or couple’s getaway. The cabins are cozy and have awesome outdoor space. They give you a sense of privacy without feeling remote. The convenience of being right in town and on the water outweigh the slight inconvenience of road noise from the nearby bridge. I will definitely be back!
How Does Hayward Cabins Compare to Alternatives?
It’s hard to compare Hayward Cabins to alternatives, but here are a couple of other cabins in the area that you might consider instead. Choosing the right one really comes down to what’s most important to you!
Hayward Haus
This modern cabin is located on a back bay of Upper Twin Lake, making it a perfect retreat for anyone seeking solitude and privacy. The cabin sleeps 4 people with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. It’s designed to be enjoyed year-round. In the warmer months, explore the lake on the provided canoe. And, in the colder months, explore the area with the provided snowshoes or cozy up next to the wood burning stove.
The property has a full well-appointed kitchen. Amenities include wifi, tv, board games, partially covered outdoor patio and fire pit.
Why Hayward Cabins is better: A more affordable and rustic feel, located right in Hayward with easy access to restaurants and shops. Boat dock allows motorized boats and access to Hayward Lake.
Trailside Cozy Modern Cabin
Hop on the Birkie ski or CAMBA mountain biking trails from this property! This modern cabin is just outside of Hayward, and is located on over 3 acres of private property. The cabins sleeps 4 guests with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Enjoy cooking in the well-appointed kitchen and relaxing on the covered porch. Amenities include wifi, smart TV, washer/ dryer, and wood burning stove.
Why Hayward Cabins is better: It’s located on Hayward Lake with lake access and is right in the town of Hayward. Hayward Cabins are more affordable and designed for 1-2 people.

Isn’t it adorable? Hope you get to go and check it out!
It’s it gorgeous? I love what they’ve done in the outdoors space. I’ll be going back for sure!
I absolutely love the outdoor space here! Yes, def bring a thermacell and/ or bug spray though (that’s just how it is in Wisconsin/ Minnesota).
Hank didn’t get to join us this time but I’d definitely bring him next time!
What a fabulous getaway! I loooove the look of the outdoor space with the fairy lights and the hanging chairs (as long as I bring my thermacell to keep the bugs away!)
Did Hank the tank get to stay too? It looks like puppy heaven in the forest!
Ahh, I love that outdoor space with those twinkle lights + egg chairs! <3 So pretty.
Good to know about getting the cabin at the end for more privacy. I'll definitely have to keep this place in mind if I go back to Wisconsin again to explore!
Now this looks like my kind of place! Would love to check out Hayward Cabins in Wisconsin. Especially love the one you stayed at…love the lights at night!
This looks like a great getaway in the middle of nature! I like that you compared it with other competitors as well… saving this place! Thanks!
What a beautiful spot to get away and unwind. The Timberjack looks so cozy. I like that you also discussed some of the “down” sides (not that they really were, as you stated). Gives me a better understanding that this isn’t total seclusion, but pretty close to it.
